156: The Mirror and the Machine — Pete Sacco on AGI, Post-Scarcity, and the Future of Human Connection
Jan 14, 2026
Description:
What if Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) isn’t a rival to humanity, but a mirror reflecting our truest selves? In this mind-expanding conversation, Joshua Prieto sits down with quantum-physicist-turned-data-center-innovator Pete Sacco. They dive deep into the "What If" scenarios of a world where machines handle the picking up and putting down, freeing humans to return to what we were actually designed for: creating, innovating, and loving.
Pete challenges us to shift our mindset from fear to courage, predicting a post-scarcity future fueled by free fusion energy and decentralized compute. This episode is a call to action for every regenerative entrepreneur to take responsibility for their own "Inner AGI"—their body, mind, and spirit—as we prepare to hand the world over to the next generation of digital-native stewards.

AGI as a Catalyst for Regenerative Stewardship
In the world of regeneration, we often look to the soil to understand life. But in our latest podcast episode with Pete Sacco, we looked at the silicon.
Pete, an engineer and avid investor in digital infrastructure, brings a unique "Explorer" perspective to the AI conversation. He doesn’t see AGI as the end of the human story, but as the end of the world as we know it—and he argues that is a great thing.
From Fear to Alignment
For many in the regenerative movement, technology often feels like a tool of extraction. Joshua and Pete explore a critical "What If": What if all stakeholders—including Mother Nature and future generations—had a voice in the governance of AGI?
Pete argues that humanity has a history of fearing democratization. Just as the printing press was feared for spreading heresy but instead ushered in the Enlightenment, Pete believes AGI will democratize not just knowledge, but human agency.
"We need to stop looking at AI as the rival and recognize it as the mirror that’s going to reflect ourselves." — Pete Sacco
The Post-Scarcity Design
The "Designer" archetype thrives in complexity. Pete outlines a roadmap where:
- Agentic AI and Robotics handle human labor, addressing the global healthcare crisis.
- Decentralized Energy moves us toward "free" energy through fusion and thermodynamic compute.
- Data Sovereignty is achieved through DAOs (Distributed Autonomous Organizations).
This shift moves us from a competitive economic engine that "redlines" until it blows up, to a cooperative ecosystem modeled after nature’s own laws of thermodynamics.
Reclaiming the Human Element
Perhaps the most profound takeaway is Pete’s "Best Friend" advice for the coming generations. In a world where machines can optimize, organize, and calculate, what remains for us?
"We were never put here to be productive," Pete reminds us. "We were here to create and innovate and love". By handing the "productivity" over to the machines, we regain the sacredness of our time.
We are currently at 2:00 AM on the 24-hour clock of AI evolution. By "noon," the world will be unrecognizable. The question for the regenerative movement is: Are we ready to be the teachers and stewards of the values that will guide this new intelligence?
